If you invoice from Greece, AADE (Ανεξάρτητη Αρχή Δημοσίων Εσόδων, the Greek tax authority) requires your invoices to be reported to myDATA, its electronic books system. Before any invoicing software can do that on your behalf, you need to register your business for API access and get a subscription key. This takes about five minutes and only needs to be done once.
What you’ll need
- Your TaxisNet credentials (the same username and password you use for your personal or business tax filings)
- Your Greek VAT number (ΑΦΜ)
Step-by-step registration
- Go to
www1.aade.gr/saadeapps2/bookkeeper-weband log in with your TaxisNet credentials. - Find the option labelled “Φόρμα εγγραφής στο myDATA REST API”. This is a separate registration from AADE’s own free invoicing app (“timologio”) — see the note below if you’re not sure which one you’re looking at.
- Select “Νέα εγγραφή χρήστη” (new user registration).
- Choose a username. It must use Latin characters and numbers only — Greek characters aren’t accepted here, even though the rest of the portal is in Greek.
- Complete the registration. AADE issues a subscription key (labelled “Κωδικός API” on the portal), tied to the VAT number you registered with.
Once you have both the username and the subscription key, enter them into your invoicing software’s AADE/myDATA settings — in Billino, that’s the AADE section in the sidebar.
Don’t confuse this with “timologio” registration
AADE’s portal also offers “Εγγραφή στο timologio” — registration for AADE’s own free invoicing app. It looks similar and sits in the same menu area, but it’s a different system and won’t give your invoicing software API access. If your invoices aren’t reaching AADE and you’re not sure why, this is worth double-checking first: you need the myDATA REST API registration specifically, not the timologio one.
If you lose your subscription key
Go back to the same registration form. You can generate a new subscription key from there — you don’t need to register as a new user again, and your existing username stays the same.
Add it to Billino
Once you have your username and subscription key, open Billino and go to the AADE section in the sidebar (only visible for Greek profiles). Enter both values, click Validate to confirm AADE accepts them, then save. From that point on, every invoice you issue is automatically submitted to myDATA for clearance.
